Sai Kung Family Photos | New Territories Family Photographer
Family Photographer in the New Territories · East
I've been a New Territories family photographer since 2008. When families ask for something that feels genuinely different — open space, natural light, somewhere that doesn't look like every other Hong Kong family photoshoot — Sai Kung is what I suggest. It's consistently one of the best Hong Kong photography locations for families who want a wilder, more open feel.
The variety here is unlike anything on the Island or in Kowloon: Sai Kung town waterfront, Lion's Nature Education Centre, Clear Water Bay, Tao Fong Shan, Penfold Park. If you're making the trip out to the New Territories, a two-area session is often worth planning.
The Waterfront Town
Sai Kung Town itself is a strong starting point. The pier is full of life — fishing boats, sampans, the seafood restaurants — and it has a completely different energy from anywhere in urban Hong Kong. On a weekday morning you'll often have the waterfront largely to yourself. After the session: some people say Sai Kung Bakery makes the best bolo bao in Hong Kong. A reasonable reward for getting out here. I photographed HK Academy for many years, so I know the town well!
Lion's Nature Education Centre
It offers diverse, accessible backdrops, from lush lawns, gazebos and dragonfruit fields to insect houses—providing plenty of space for kids to explore naturally while capturing candid moments.
Other Photoshoot Locations in New Territories
Clear Water Bay, which is only a short drive away and offers turquoise water and a wilder feel than the South Side beaches. If you're making the trip out to the New Territories, it can be worth planning a two-area session.
Tai Po & Sha Tin: Choose between the manicured lawns of Penfold Park or the authentic, relaxed vibe of Tai Po’s waterfront and old town markets. Both are excellent for low-traffic, candid sessions.
Tao Fong Shan Christian Centre A hidden hillside gem in Sha Tin blending Scandinavian and Chinese monastery architecture.Completely empty during the week, it’s truly one of Hong Kong’s greatest unknown photography locations.
Beas River Club: The lush lawns and open greenery of the Beas River area offer at "genuine countryside" feel. It’s perfect for families wanting portraits that look nothing like the rest of Hong Kong.
