The Legacy Project: From Toddler to Teen Photography

For two decades, I have had the privilege of documenting a generation of children, capturing professional family portraits in Hong Kong as they grow from toddlers through to teenagers. My work follows the narrative of the family, sometimes even moving with them to their next chapters in Singapore, London, or Toronto, continuing the story wherever childhood takes them.

My approach is entirely kid-led and unscripted. As a lifestyle photographer, I ensure that portraits reflect real personalities rather than stiff poses. I specialise in capturing genuine kids: the ones who won't sit still, the shy ones who need warming up, and the teens who’d rather be anywhere else. I always get kids onside, and I always deliver.

While technically a family photographer, my best and most distinctive work is portraiture. There's a vast difference between photographing a family running down a beach and actually getting someone to reveal something of themselves to the camera. My skill — whether the subject is two or ninety-six — is making that happen.

To me those are the photos that last for generations.
