Best Locations for a Hong Kong Family Photoshoot (2026)

100+ Photo Spots · Hong Kong Island · Kowloon · New Territories · Outlying Islands

After nearly twenty years as a Hong Kong family photographer, I've shot in more corners of this city than I can count. This is my complete guide to Hong Kong photography locations for family sessions — from hidden photography spots most people never find, to the classics that have been working for twenty years.

Whether you're looking for the best photoshoot locations in Hong Kong, somewhere that feels genuinely different, or just a practical spot near where you live — there's an option here. Every location below is somewhere I use regularly, and I'm always open to suggestions.

One thing I always tell families: the location is 10% of the photo, max. Your family is the other 90%.

Every family photographer in Hong Kong has a locations list, mine has 100+ spots where I have done family photoshoots.

01 · Hong Kong Island

Central & Mid-Levels

As a Central and Mid-Levels family photographer, I have a huge number of locations to choose from on the north side of Hong Kong Island: Pottinger Street steps, Hollywood Road, The Botanical Gardens, Hong Kong Park, Stone Nullah Lane, the Asia Society grounds in Admiralty, the new Wan Chai Waterfront park.

Urban jungles to massive green spaces, all a few minutes apart.

02 · South Side

Stanley

Murray House, the waterfront pier, ancient temples, dramatic rocks, and quiet laneways — all within a short walk of each other.

As a South Side family photographer, Stanley is one of my most-used locations: perfect for after-school sessions, and super-friendly for pet photography. Bring the dog.

03 · Kowloon

Kowloon

Most families think beaches or skyline. Kowloon Park rarely comes up as a first choice. That's a mistake. Chinese pavilions, tropical gardens, a flamingo pond, a hedge maze, great light whether sunny or overcast, and kids respond to the unhurried weekday morning energy.

Add in TST waterfront, West Kowloon Cultural District, and the urban jungles of Mongkok. Take a trip to the 'Dark Side'!

04 · South Side

Repulse Bay Beach

Most families picture sand and sea. There's that, but also a Tin Hau Temple, a pier, and a promenade north toward Deep Water Bay — enough variety that no two sessions ever look the same.

As a South Side family photographer I've been shooting Repulse Bay for nearly twenty years. Take the promenade toward Deep Water Bay and shoot on the rocks.

05 · New Territories

Sai Kung & New Territories

Sai Kung is a popular spot for Hong Kong expat family photos, but the New Territories has an incredible number of photography locations.

Tao Fong Shan in Sha Tin, Beas River Club, Clear Water Bay, Penfold Park, and the Tai Po waterfront. I'm always open to new locations!

06 · Outlying Islands

Discovery Bay & Lantau

Discovery Bay's car-free promenade, village atmosphere and quiet beaches are perfect for relaxed sessions.

Add in the options of Mui Wo, Disneyland and Tung Chung and there is no shortage of locations. Perfect for families based on Lantau, or anyone wanting something genuinely different.

At Home Family Session

Some of the best sessions I've ever shot have been at home — kids on their own turf, parents (and grandparents) relaxed, no commute and pet photo friendly.

As an in-home family photographer in Hong Kong, I find these sessions often produce the most natural images of all. A great escape from the Sunday crowds.
