12 Years, 6 Hours: Documenting a Hong Kong Family from Toddler to Teen

Documenting One Hong Kong Family as They Grow: Toddler to Teen

How many families can say they own a visual history this rich? The secret isn't a massive time commitment, it’s consistency. Over the last twelve years, I have spent just six hours total photographing this one special family, documenting their children’s journey from toddlers to teenagers. As a Hong Kong family photographer, this is why I do what I do.

The Myth of the "Busy" Schedule

I often hear from parents, “We just can’t find an hour this year.” I’ve heard this from some families for a decade. The irony is that while they wait for the "perfect" time, their children are growing up. In a city as fast-paced and photogenic as Hong Kong, those missed moments are gone forever.

There is no “perfect time”, just book an hour and it’s done!

An hour is a tiny investment for a lifetime of memory. For this family, six brief sessions created a treasure trove of milestones that they, and their now-grown children, will cherish forever.

Hong Kong Family Photoshoot Locations: A City of Contrasts, from Park to Beach to Urban

The city’s light and texture allow me to create timeless portraits where the family takes center stage, and Hong Kong acts as the perfect supporting character. In this "urban jungle," the backdrop evolves right alongside the children.

Hong Kong is the world’s ultimate site for stunning family portrait backdrops.

Why You Should Do Annual Family Portraits

Regular photography isn’t just about a single "nice" photo; it’s about the narrative of growth. Watching siblings' bonds strengthen and personalities unfold over twelve years is priceless. And it only takes six hours over 12 years. (100,000+ hours in 12 years!)
