My Thai Rocket Festival Photo in The Guardian Newspaper

Kalasin Rocket Festival in The Guardian Newspaper

Rocket Festival in The Guardian Newspaper

A few months ago I submitted a photo from my trip to photograph the Rocket Festival in Kalasin Thailand to The Guardian newspaper. (I love The Guardian, along with the New York Times, that’s where I get most of my news.) I then promptly forgot about it. Then the other day I saw that they had indeed run it, not long after I had submitted. I thought I would get some notice or something, but no.

Here is the link

There is nothing further to say, I got no payment, nobody contacted me to hire me, but I got my best shot of the trip into my favourite newspaper. If you want to check out an amazing location and festival in Issan (Northeast Thailand), this is a great one. Happens here every May, at the end of the hot season, heralding the start of the rainy season. Issan is arguably the greatest part of Thailand. I spent the early ‘90s travelling around this part of Thailand buying mutmee silk.
