Hong Kong Lifestyle Family Photos
Many family photographers, myself included, tend to overuse the term “lifestyle photographer” when in fact the photos aren’t really that at all. While I would love to do more Hong Kong Lifestyle Photo Sessions, the reality in a city where everyone is so busy is a different story. “Lifestyle photos” should actually show your life, not some stages event or static portraits. This type of photo session takes much more time and patience than the average family portrait session.
Family Photo Session in Hong Kong
Real Hong Kong Kids Photos!
I realize when I look back at my work that my early kids photos, mostly taken of my nieces and nephews in Canada, were the best “lifestyle style” photos I have taken. Why? Because we had lots of time. I was never rushed, I just took my time and, most importantly, always carried a camera with me. So, if you are doing your annual family photo session in HK, ask yourself if you have time for a creative family photo shoot Hong Kong. Lately, however, I have been offering more short options such as Mini Sessions and, what I call Demi Sessions, designed for people on tight timelines and/or budgets. So this year I am actually offering up:
The Ultimate Hong Kong Family Lifestyle Photo Session
Hong Kong Family Photos with Your Pets!
But I also want to provide affordable family photography in Hong Kong. I know I can work quickly and provide a wide variety of shots in a completely natural style, if given the time. So this year I have introduced multi-location, laid-back documentary-style, lifestyle photo sessions in Hong Kong. For these I do up to two and a half hours of photography and allow an hour or more to travel around. There is no hurry, the whole idea is that everyone, especially the kids, gets super comfortable and basically forgets I’m even there!
We can start (or end!) at home, take some photos with the family pets. Kids are always more comfortable on their home turf. Then maybe go to your club, if you do the ‘club thing’. They are usually fantastic places to photograph. We can go to the beach, or wander around deepest, darkest Kowloon. Hit your favourite noodle shop or dim sum joint. There are a myriad of things to do in Hong Kong.
The best thing about these sessions is that they tell the story of your family’s life in Hong Kong. Unlike most portrait sessions, these longer sessions have a beginning, a middle and an end. They have a wider range of emotions. So, for the remainder of 2025, I will be including a coffee-table album with every one of these sessions! Many photographers charge more than the session-fee for these types of printed products, but I’ve made a commitment to provide them so your family has a tangible memory of the story we created together.
These shots don’t normally don’t happen during a one-hour portrait session!
Take the time to experience the different sides of Hong Kong for your lifestyle photo session!
