humanitarian and documentary photography: Used by The New Scientist, UNDP Thailand as well as São Paulo, Aarhus & Oxford Universities
Whether documenting clean energy projects for the Asian Development Bank, food security programs for CARE, the approach never changes, earn trust, stay unobtrusive, wait for the real moment.
I have been photographing this type of work long before I became a HK photographer. My early years in Asia were at The Cambodia Daily newspaper in Phnom Penh (1994-96). There I hung out with many photo-journalists, and somewhat adopted that stuff myself. While I did other things with photography, there is nothing more I love than being in the field working with NGOs. It has allowed me to get to some corners of Asia I would not normally travel to.
I especially love Bangladesh, as does everyone I know who has been there. Not a country in most people’s travel plans, but it is fascinating and friendly. Photo absolutely everywhere!
I am looking for opportunities to photograph for organizations in Asia. These can be corporate CSR stories, or documentary work for non-governmental organizations. I like to ‘rough it’, so there is no job that is too remote for me. (I have kayaked and camped the entire 600 km coast of Thailand, twice, so nothing on a shoot can compare to that!)
