Beas River Hong Kong Family Portraits
Hong Kong has some amazing public locations for family photo sessions, I am never stumped for ideas on where to hold photo shoots. Every now and then however, I get to work in some of the private clubs that are sprinkled around this massive city. Hong Kong Country Club, Aberdeen Marina Club, The American Club, The Rugby Club and on and on, I’ve done lots of them. The greatest club for a family session, in my opinion, is the Beas River Country Club. This spot, which actually is in the countryside, is massive, green beyond belief, and virtually empty on weekdays.
Yes, it takes a long time to get up there, but it’s so worth it. Vast expanses of green grass, old growth trees, horses photo-bombing through the back of your family photos. And importantly, it works on sunny days and overcast days. As I have done a ton of Hong Kong family photo sessions, I can always find something I would like to change, but not this place.
Afew years ago I did a photo session for one of the top horse trainers as well, so I got to go behind the scenes, which is always fun. But this family photo session I’m posting here is a good example of what we can do in a hour there with some cute energetic kids and fun parents. At the end of the day it’s all about parents who like my style of candid kids photography and just let me do my thing. I always get a ton of great shots when the situation is so perfect, as it was on this day.
